About Me
I’m a University of Florida (UF) Pro Master's student studying mass communication with a focus on creative disciplines. I am most interested in studying creative strategy, media and video production, script writing and film, content marketing, public interest communications and all things storytelling.
Last spring, I earned my undergraduate degree in education from the UF College of Education. I was on track for becoming a teacher, as I believed that impacting kids and spending a life of service was the best thing I could do — until I was a student teacher and realized that I thoroughly did not enjoy the act of teaching young children!
All along, I’ve always been passionate about writing, as well as being fascinated by humanity, life's big questions, knowledge, creativity and acting strategically to positively impact individuals and the larger scope of society. (Yes, I’m a dreamer at heart.) The summer before my senior year, I decided to pursue these ideas in reality, which really is what I should have been doing since I started college.
Proceeding in the direction of my dreams, I started collecting experiences to hone my skills. I became a wisdom writer, and later feature writer, for UF Her Campus online magazine, and I later became a feature writer for national Her Campus. Additionally, I was the journalism intern for UF Hillel for a year, and my most recent internship was this summer as a writer for Study Breaks Magazine. This year, I will be a copywriter for TEDxUF. My favorite topics to explore are psychology, personal growth, mental health, culture and societal trends.
In my future careers, I hope to use components of the human experience to fuel media that people connect with. I am passionate about using online media to deliver engaging, thoughtful, curiosity-sparking content. I plan to be consistently curious and ask questions that challenge myself and others to think outside modes of habit and then pursue projects in an attempt to find answers.
In my free time, I enjoy listening to podcasts on psychology, spirituality and philosophy; reading fiction and personal growth; journaling; doing yoga; listening to old school soul, funk and R&B; and spending quality time with friends and family.
